End of day 6

Picked up another piece of 1/4 inch drywall at hd and put it up. I'm done drywalling at this point unless I decide to do the top of the stairs. Need to make a plan to finish the rest of the walls.

End of day 5

Pulled some 1/4 inch sheets from the basement (left over from Ian's room) to do the side of the steps and finished the door area where I could. There is some water damage that has to be addressed.

End of day 4

Much better day today. Lots of odds and ends. 3 more sheets on the long wall and I demolished another section of the family room and started with the drywall there.

End of day 3

Almost finished the wall. I can't work on it anymore tonight. It was a miserable day, nothing went right. I hate this crappy house and it's no-square-anywhere walls. Need a few beers and a good night sleep to shake today off. Jamie made fajitas for my birthday which was nice.

End of day 2

Another wall. Realized tonight that I should have ordered long cables for hmdi and component. Had to pay for 2 day shipping to get them here on Thursday.

End of day 1

Cleared the first wall, redid a bunch of electrical work including a total rewire of the entry way box. It has 6 wires running into it. 4 to carry the line back to the attic (don't know why 3 went to the attic) and to the front wall. 1 to the outside porch light, and 1 going to the attic for future use in recessed lighting. Finished with the insulation right before dinner. Tomorrow I'll do the same with wall 2.

Prep complete

So far...

- Ran Ethernet and coax to the basement thought the wall.
- Got the electrical, drywall, and insulation for the next couple of days
- Ordered appliances
- Selected counter top, cabinets and flooring (flooring was today)
- Bought a garbage disposal called the in-sink-erator.

I was off Thurday and Friday to complete the drywalling. Success! Victory beer pour kicked the keg though :(

Weekend update

Thursday - put up the first piece of drywall on an inner wall
Friday - Did the back of the closet
Saturday - Finished the electrical work for the inner wall, put up two pieces and started a third
Sunday - Finished one from Saturday, and did two more.

Total is 9 pieces up .
17 to go.

Spring Project

New Bedroom coming soon. So far haven't done much. Took off trim and cleared the room. During the next two days hope to remove all the drywall, install the electrical, and put in insulation.

What's been going on

The last couple of weeks have been spent creating storage space and painting the crappy green walls in the back room. I wish I would have done a before and after. There is still too much crap in the basement but its much better than it was.

Christmas break

I had hoped to clear the basement and finish the lights. I didn't even finish the main section of the basement. Its a good start though.

- Made some big shelving units (one with Ian), stuck a bunch of crap in there.
- Moved my guitar cases to the area under the stairs, and built a quicky frame to keep them from falling over.
- Started moving the tools to Ian's old dresser.
- Made Ian a Lego play area that slides out from under his bed.
- Did a good bit of throwing away (includig the old xbox) and the old Target book shelves which were pieces of crap.

Still tons of stuff down there, lots of work to do to get to the point where working on the basement will be easy again.

Christmas was mostly nice. Tons of family time at the expense of super house productivity.
